I’m pleased to announce (or remind you, depending) that my art show opening party is next Friday, March 12th from 5-8pm at the ToolBox Creative offices at 325 Cherry Street in Fort Collins. I hope you can make it! If not, my work will be on display in their offices for about a month. Prints will be for sale as well.

I’m going to keep the mounting extremely rudimentary (read: cheap). Given the recession and the ridiculous cost of framing and mounting, I’m just going to mount plain, unadorned prints. Pshaw, that’s right! Plain ‘ole prints, on the wall, no frame, no mounting.

A poster I designed for the upcoming Black & White exhibition at the Center for Fine Art Photography. The recent series of posters have been very successful and well received. I am pleased with how well the designs are creating brand recognition. The Black & White exhibition runs August 28 – September 26. Be sure to stop in and see the work.

So far, I have received Honorable Mention for my Night Import image and A Long Day Series from the International Photography Awards. Official competition results will be released next week. Even if I don’t reach a podium finish, I’m pleased to have gotten official recognition and made it this far. All prints are for sale on my Etsy page.

Tomorrow marks my first day as the graphic designer at OtterBox in Old Town, Fort Collins. They make all sorts of cases and protection for portable devices like the iPhone, Blackberry, and iPod. I’ll be heading up most of the design, branding, and advertising, in addition to doing product photography and some videography work. I’m a little reluctant to give up the freedoms that come along with freelancing, but I’m confident that OtterBox will be a great place to work. Wish me luck!

For my last day of freedom, I decided to plant a tree in the yard. I planted it in the side yard… the “dog area.” A previously rather bleak area of gravel. I’ve been wanting to add some life and shade over there, this seemed like a great opportunity. The tree marks my fresh start. For those interested, I decided on a Washington Hawthorne. I had marked it two years ago in a Colorado xeriscaping book. It has “persistent” tiny berries, 2-3″ thorns (you can see a few on the right side, lower branches near the trunk), and turns a nice red in the Fall.
