I have been excitedly hard at work on this short movie featuring our latest star, Mr. Parker Lee Van Alstyne. It’s for all of you who are too far away to enjoy him in person. Here’s a little one-on-one for you. I say it’s pretty damn good, especially considering I’ve only shot with a video camera and played in Final Cut Studio about three times so far. My Sony EX1 finally came back from their San Jose repair facility (albeit 3 weeks later than they promised, but I’ll save that tasty bitterness for another post).
This is one of the primary reasons I got into video. To manipulate the everyday perspective into beauty and humility. Plus, how many people’s home videos look like this? I have to thank Phil Bloom for the inspiration and realization that you can do amazing motion photography with the simple stuff as I’ve always done with photography. Simply let the object and scene record itself in 3 dimensions instead of 2.
Download the high-def 1280×720 verision here.
Music by Jack Johnson (don’t tell him, wink). Cut with Final Cut Pro, graded with Apple Color. Shot with Sony EX1 at 1920×1080 on a Satchler head/tripod.

Second time I’ve seen this and it still brings tears to my eyes. Nicely done; and it helps to have such a beautiful subject.

Via email: Ok seriously that is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. I am still teary eyed from it. He is so super sweet and so cute. I love the perspective you used to shoot that- very cool and down to earth. Thanks for sharing!

That is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen today. What a great way to capture such a little miracle.
