We had our ultrasound today and… it’s a boy! Please welcome Parker Lee VanAlstyne to the family!
The ultrasound was a strange experience. It’s confusing, disconcerting, and somewhat overwhelming to watch a sound-driven tool dissect our tiny boy into real-time images on a monitor. I don’t have much experience with medical equipment as it is, so this was definitely foreign. The ultrasound-operator-lady-person was flying around taking onscreen measurements of his head, abdomen, heart, and many other things, most of which I didn’t grasp. Prints just kept coming from the little machine, next to the big machine she was working from. We didn’t get to finish up the ultrasound process yet though. Jess wasn’t feeling so hot, and time was short, so we’ll be coming back next week.
Until then, the only print-out we were given was of his, um, manhood. Check it out if you like. The mini “part” in question I highlighted in red. I have no idea what else in the image; perhaps a leg?
