I got these pimp new japanese-style dishes at Target yesterday!

Yes, I am excited. I’m a dork, it’s ok, you can point and snicker. I’ve had the same dishes for over 7 years; although free, they were uneventful and uninspiring. I needed a change. My mom had given me them (her relics) when I went away to college. They performed valiantly; indestructible for the most part. The lackluster shape of the bowl in the set is what eventually sealed their demise. I only had one size. It was more like a small curved plate than a bowl. In fact, earlier this week I sat on the couch with a bowl of cereal, and spilled milk down my front. Classic.

After that event, I visited one of my favorite stores… Target. Sure, they’re only a few paces behind Walmart’s wake of colossal domination, but you have to admire their branding genius, and they carry way cooler stuff than Walmart. Anyway, I found this set of pearl-finish dishes there that just seemed perfect for a low-cost upgrade. The plates and salad plates are a curved square shaped; the pasta bowl is wide, and cavernous; the soup bowl is narrower and very deep; then I got a few smaller ice-cream-like bowls that are black on the outside and a cracked-glaze tan on the inside. The icing was this set of four flower shaped condiment dishes.

dip your heart out.

At least if I spill cereal on myself now, it will be in style.
